Cosmetic Tooth Repair: Top 4 Options

cosmetic tooth repair gives you a bright white smileLet’s face it; no one has a perfect smile and if they do, then chances are good that they have had cosmetic tooth repair to correct their dental imperfections.

Imperfections in your smile can be embarrassing, painful, and just pain awkward and can range from minor unevenness or discoloration to significant misalignment. Dr. Wolnik has extensive experience improving all types of dental imperfections using cosmetic tooth repair techniques.

If you are not confident about your smile, Dr. Wolnik can help! Here, we’ve listed out some of the most common procedures for cosmetic tooth repair.

#1 – Cosmetic Contouring

Crooked, overlapping, chipped, or irregular teeth are easily addressed with a common procedure known as cosmetic contouring. During this procedure, normal, healthy teeth are reshaped using this relatively minor process to correct small scale dental imperfections. Often cosmetic contouring is combined with composite resin bonding (see Bonding).

#2 – Cosmetic Bonding

Bonding techniques fuse natural enamel and dentin with composite materials to create teeth that look and function like normal, attractive teeth. Bonding is an excellent solution to chipped, broken, cracked or stained teeth and can correct dental imperfections with the need for manufacturing a crown. Bonding materials can also be used to fill small cavities or decrease space between teeth.

#3 – Cosmetic Dental Crowns

Crowns, also known as caps, are used to address more significant dental imperfections and are only used when other procedures just won’t do the job. Crowns completely cover a tooth and restore the normal look and shape and may be required for misshapen, weak, broken or worn teeth. Teeth with large fillings may eventually need a crown as well as implants or a tooth that has had a root canal. Crowns are made from metal, porcelain over metal, resin or ceramic – Dr. Wolnik would know which is best for your situation.

#4 – Teeth Whitening

Discolored or yellowing teeth are some of the most common dental imperfections corrected by dentists. If your teeth are in good condition, but you are concerned about the coloring, Dr. Wolnik offers several procedures to perfect your smile. Custom-fit whitening trays are available if you’re interested in whitening your teeth at home. Dr. Wolnik also offers an in-office option that includes a two-week pre-treatment, a 60-90 minute in-office procedure, and a daily at-home maintenance program.
