CEREC technology is one of the most innovative and exciting dental procedures currently available. As a dentist who strives to provide his patients with the best available dental care, Dr. Wolnik utilizes the latest technologies in all aspects of his dental practice. With this in mind, Dr. Wolnik is proud to be your CEREC dentist in Ohio.
What is CEREC?
CEREC is an acronym for Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramic and is also known as Ceramic Reconstruction. Created in 1980 at the University of Zurich, the CEREC system is one of the most thoroughly researched dental technologies, and allows Dr. Wolnik to use computer technology to create ceramic restorations in a single appointment.
CEREC uses CAD/CAM dentistry techniques that involve taking a digital impression using visible light scanning, digital radiographs, CT scans, and other methods. These scans are then sent to a computer program that forwards the information to a milling machine for restoration creation.
Procedures that Utilize CEREC Technology
The CEREC system is not only quick and painless, but also incredibly flexible. It can be used to create a number of dental restorations, including:
Benefits
The innovative CEREC design has several benefits that Dr. Wolnik is thrilled to be able to offer his patients. Some of the highlights of the CEREC procedure include:
- Speed – In the past, certain dental procedures such as crowns and veneers required several visits to complete, making them lengthy and rather inconvenient. With CEREC, Dr. Wolnik can complete your entire dental restoration in about an hour.
- Precision and Accuracy – Unlike traditional procedural techniques, which do not always create the most precise and accurate restorations, CEREC allows Dr. Wonik to create digital models that are perfectly designed to fit your restoration needs. CEREC milled crowns and other restorations are well suited to your specific mouth.
- No Harmful Materials – Recent studies have shown the potentially harmful side effects of traditional mercury-based silver fillings, including adverse effects on young children and developing fetuses. With CEREC, there is no potential for exposure to potentially harmful toxins, as only resilient biocompatible ceramic is used.
With CEREC, Dr. Wolnik is able to provide the most accurate, quickly rendered dental restorations available. If you are in need of a new crown, veneer, inlay, or only, contact Dr. Wolnik’s office today to discuss the CEREC way!
